Overview
SESC begin in 1971 as a special education service center. Over time schools provided their own special education specialists and assistants. SESC grew to provide more services and opportunities for its local schools.
SESC currently provide technology and assessment training, posters, technology support, and media. SESC also sponsors the Quiz Bowl and Spelling Bee. Lastly, SESC helps out with regional sterling scholar program.

SESC is one of four regional service centers (SEDC, CUES and NUES) in the State of Utah. SESC is a not-for-profit service center that supports the four public education school districts in Southeast Utah. SESC exists to provide services needed and requested by the schools/districts served.
The four school districts of Carbon, Emery, Grand and San Juan make up the Southeast Region of Utah. These four districts encompass 17,455 of Utah's 84,916 square miles, or 21% of the Utah's total area. There are nine states within the USA that are smaller than 17,455 square miles in total area.

- Organized and promoted Spelling Bee after one year absence - March 2009
- Promoted, planned and organized Quiz Bowl after one year absence - March-April 2009

- Edesk 2: Create tests, lesson plans, surveys, and share photos, text, and rubrics. 2003-2007
- Myedesk: Share your portfolio and rubrics to the world. Later merged with edesk2. 2002-2007
- TIPS: Surweb quiz engine in a full software destination. 1999-2009.
- Surweb: Web 2.0 product before web 2.0 existed, access field trip photos, lessons, and quizzes. 1995-2009
